Ralph Lauren Shopping App
For my creative internship project, I created a mock shopping app for Ralph Lauren. I created this app through InVision using photography and a video clip from Ralph Lauren's Spring/Summer 2017 Collection. As the user scrolls down the homepage, they will find a full bleed image titled with clean typography for each category. This creates a quick and concise experience for the user.
When the user chooses a category, they will be brought to a new page where they can choose a sub-category or they can choose to "shop by trend". Shopping by trend is a great opportunity for story telling and taking the consumer through the inspiration behind the collection. The first trend I noticed in the collection were a lot of paint splattered pieces. I called this trend "artsy attire".  I also created a gif of an eye catching pair of paint splattered jeans. This put emphasis on the delicate details, showcasing that Ralph Lauren jeans are not just a pair of regular jeans, but an art form.
"Preppy patches" is the next shop by trend page that I curated. I noticed many patches on pieces of clothing through out the collection, which led me to create gifs of those as well. It was fun to watch the screen come to life as I put the gifs, images, and text together. Gifs are a fun and easy way to entertain and also keep the attention of the user.
When the user find a piece from the collection they like, they can tap on "Shop Now" where they will be brought to the item's individual page. On this page, the item is shown against a clean, white background, but as you scroll down you can see consumer images of how to style the item. Here, the user can become inspired by how to wear the clothing and create many different looks. This also gives an opportunity for influencers to showcase their unique style. If the user is happy with the item, they then can add it to their shopping bag.
When you tap on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the app, you are brought to the "search" bar. The search bar is type set using the font of Didot, which goes very nicely with the Polo Ralph Lauren aesthetic. The font is quite large, which creates dynamic contrast on the empty search page. When the user types in what they are looking for, for example "dresses", they are brought to a scroll of every item similar to that word. The images on this search page are shot in a playful and engaging way for the user. They are curated on the page in different scales and angles, instead of being portrayed in the same way or not on a model. This brings the clothes on the page to life.
When the user is unsure what to search for, they can also click on the camera button at the bottom of the search page which brings them to a curated page of consumers wearing Polo Ralph Lauren. Here, the user can become inspired with different looks and ways of styling the clothes. This part of the app showcases recent trends and the most popular looks of the season.
